"Rabbit Brush" is paying homage to one of my favorite high desert plants. Chamisa, also known as Rabbit Brush is a gorgeous sage bush that explodes with golden yellow flowers in fall. The image here playfully portrays the plant with its namesake in front of Albuquerque's Sandia mountains. I imagine this painting as a piece of a narrative that has yet to be written.
The painting was created as a submission to the Harwood Art Center's annual 12x12 silent auction fundraiser.
Acrylic and paper mâché.
